The official ribbon cutting for the newest employee housing project in Steamboat Springs was Tuesday. It’s off of 13th Street, which is behind the Steamboat Springs Transit offices. The building is about 9,000 square feet with two floors, like a dormitory. It can house 32 people in 16 bedrooms with double occupancy. Each floor has a shared kitchen, lounge, quiet room, and storage. It will be used for season housing for Steamboat Springs Transit workers, and Parks & Rec employees.

Today is a celebration at Casey’s Pond Senior Living Community, as it marks the one-year anniversary of the community-led effort to save Casey’s Pond, when it was threatened with foreclosure just over a year ago. That’s at 2:30 p.m. Casey’s Pond is now managed by Northwest Colorado Health, and there’s a waiting list to get in. Northwest Colorado Health is launching a three-year campaign to raise $3 million to support the aging population in the region. Support has already come in from Memorial Regional Health in Craig, and UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs. Donations can be made through the Northwest Colorado Health website.

“We’re so excited to be taking in a different element of this community than Erin and I have been a part of. From a background in media and a background in writing, we were always drawn to the community connection and there’s no better way to stay connected to the community than a pet store. We couldn’t be more thankful to Dave and Jodi for the support that they’ve shown us and the belief they have in us to take over the reins of what an incredible hub they’ve built for pet lovers in the Yampa Valley.”
