Screamboat is coming back from the dead, but with a few changes. Instead of being at Colorado Mountain College, the very scary Screamboat Haunted House will be at the old McKnight’s Irish Pub in Wildhorse Plaza.
Ric MacNeil is the owner and mastermind behind the chillingly scary and frightening Screamboat Haunted House.
“It is going to be scarier than ever before. We’re excited to bring this back and just give the community a fun night out for Halloween.”

There will be over 15 rooms with over 20 animatronics and animations, with live scare actors in front of the building.
Screamboat this year will be October 24, 25, 26 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and then the following weekend of Oct. 30, 31, and Nov. 1 (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). Hours are 6-10 p.m.
Screamboat is not recommended for young children, and it is suggested that any children or young teenagers come with a parent and at a parent’s discretion.
There will be one hour at 5 p.m. on one day where the lights will be on for people and maybe younger children to take a less-scary tour. Those details are being finalized.
The cost is $27 per person. Details are being finalized for donations to certain local nonprofits.
Screamboat was on the campus of Colorado Mountain College for 24 years. It was not held there last year.

UPDATE:
From JC Norling, CMC vice president and Steamboat Springs campus dean:
For many years, the CMC Steamboat campus has been honored to help “scare you silly” each Halloween through the Screamboat haunted house at the Allbright Auditorium. This event has been a fun and creative collaboration that brought together students, staff and community members for a great cause — and a good scare!
As of last fall, Screamboat is no longer hosted on campus. The change reflects retirements of key individuals who launched and led the event, the conclusion of the academic program once connected to it, and new scheduling needs for the auditorium that support college and community events.
The great news is that Screamboat will continue! Community member Ric MacNeil, the mastermind behind the haunted house design and construction, has taken over the event and found a new home for it at the former McKnight’s building.
It’s been a wonderful run for Screamboat at CMC, and we’re excited to see Ric and the community carry the tradition forward in its next chapter.
