A crash between a semi-truck hauling a trailer and an Audi sent one person to the hospital. The driver of the truck was from Fruita and was not injured. It happened Wednesday afternoon, just west of Milner. Colorado State Patrol says traffic was alternating.

A large weather balloon was spotted in Northwest Colorado Wednesday morning. The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office reports it was seen in southeastern Moffat County. Others reported seeing it over Emerald Mountain in Steamboat Springs.

Striping continues today and tomorrow along Hwy 40 at Downhill Drive and Riverside Drive. That’s just west of Steamboat Springs. Be aware of more delays until that project is finished.

Training for Responsible Alcohol Servers is Thursday, Oct. 16, in Craig. This is free to community members, although donations are appreciated from local businesses participating. The workshop training promotes responsible alcohol service, protects community safety, reduces legal and financial liability, enhances customer experience, and builds professional credibility. It is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, in the library at Colorado Northwestern Community College in Craig. The Responsible Alcohol Server Training is sponsored by the Northwest Colorado Chapter of Parrotheads.

 

The Bust of Steamboat is celebrating 25 years of Breast Cancer Awareness. The movement supports women in Routt and Moffat counties with mammograms, wigs, and support during treatment. Find out more and donate at TheBustofSteamboat.org

 

Avoid frozen pipes as the weather gets colder. The City of Steamboat Springs is sending a reminder to disconnect your garden hose, insulate your pipes, let faucets drip and keep a consistent temperature.

The U.S. Freestyle Ski Team has been announced and Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club is well represented. The Women’s Moguls A-Team again has Olympic Silver Medalist Jaelin Kauf, SSHS 2014 graduate, and Olivia Giaccio. Landon Wendler of Steamboat Springs made the Men’s Moguls A Team. The Rookie Team has Abby McLarnon from Steamboat.
