Routt County residents lined up along Lincoln Ave., between Old Fish Creek Falls Road and McDonald’s Saturday for a “No Kings Protest,” in solidarity with others across the nation. It’s estimated that 1,500 showed up for the demonstration. Steamboat Springs Police report no arrests and no incidents, that everything went smoothly. (Update Monday morning… 3rd Street to Pine Grove Road.)
Measles has been detected in routine wastewater sample collections in Routt County, which has been participating in the CDPHE pilot program regarding public wastewater surveillance since May. However, Routt County Public Health has not confirmed any cases of measles in Routt County residents or the surrounding areas. Detection in wastewater doesn’t necessary mean an active case of measles. It could be viral shedding from someone who may have visited or traveled through the county. Routt County Public Health is strongly recommending all community members and their children are up to date on the MMR (Measles Mumps Rubella) vaccinations.
