United Way of the Yampa Valley is collecting $25 food gift cards from City Market and Safeway in Steamboat Springs and City Market or Walmart in Craig for local families in need during the holiday season. These will be given to families in need on their next grocery trip. These families are nominated by local schools, health and human service organizations and other nonprofits.
- Drop off at 443 Oak Street in Steamboat Springs before Dec. 9.
- Drop off at 775 Yampa Ave. in Craig before Dec. 8.
Board members are needed for the Yampa Valley Housing Authority. You must work or live within the Steamboat Springs Rural Fire Protection District. Apply through YVHA.org before Dec. 1.
The application is available online, and should be completed and returned to the Routt County Commissioners’ Office (522 Lincoln Ave, Suite 30, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487) or emailed to jparent@co.routt.co.us no later than December 1, 2025.
Other board positions open in Routt County include the Cemetery Board, Fair Advisory Board, Library Board, Historic Preservation Board and more.
Routt County Road and Bridge is doing some work at railroad crossings. County Road 179 at Mile Marker 10.8, which is the railroad crossing at Saddle Back Ranch will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Then on Tuesday, County Road 33 will be closed at the same time at the railroad crossing near County Road 27.
Steamboat Springs Rotary Club has received national recognition from Rotary International for the success of the local Lobsterfest, which raised $259,207 this summer. The money raised was to support Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide (REPS) and other local charities. Over $805,000 has been raised and provided to support Yampa Valley 501(c)3 organizations since LobsterFest’s inception in 2019.

Routt County Emergency Management is looking for volunteers to join the Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT. Training is from 5-8 on Monday, Nov. 17 at the Routt County Emergency Operations Center. It’s a way to be involved in the community and be more prepared in case of an emergency. Rocky Mountain Economic Development Partnership wants to hear from you. There is a survey for the Yampa Business Retention & Expansion Study, to see how local businesses do each year, the dynamics, business environment, and more. It’s confidential and anonymous. Those who participate could win a $100 gift card. A link to the survey is on our website.

The Steamboat Sailors Boys Soccer team lost the final game in the 3A State Championships Saturday, 1-0, against Kent Denver. It was a still a great season for the Sailors and the community is very proud.

Steamboat Springs 8th grader Lylah Keller finished third at the Middle School Cross Country National Championships Sunday, in Louisville, Kentucky. There were 289 girls competing.

Cooper Puckett of Steamboat Springs picked up his first career World Cup points, finishing 26th, out of the 69th start position, in the men’s slalom on Sunday, Nov. 16 in Levi, Finland.

From our neighbors to the north in Baggs, Wyoming, the six-man football team from the Little Snake River Valley School is once again Wyoming state champions, having defeated Burlington 67-16 in the championship game on Saturday. It’s their 4th championship title for the Rattlers in the past five years.
