Colorado State Patrol has followed up on the extra enforcement from last Friday, from troopers and law enforcement in Northwest Colorado. It was called the Northwestern Surge Operation in Routt, Moffat, Grand, Summit, and Eagle counties. Colorado State Patrol made 63 contacts. There was one DUI arrest, 15 other citations, and four wildlife-related crashes involving deer.

CSP then sent a reminder to make sure you are Winter Ready in Colorado. Make sure your tires have adequate traction and are ready for snow. Check your battery and fluids. Have good visibility, which might mean new windshield wipers and a scraper for your windows. And pack an Emergency Kit.

Construction on the new Branham Amphitheater for Piknik Theatre is finished. The outdoor performing space behind Strawberry Park Elementary School is scheduled to open next summer. The nearly $1 million performing arts venue was made possible through public and private contributions.

Piknik Theatre will host things like Shakespeare in the Park, and work with groups such as Opera Steamboat, Steamboat Dance Theatre, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Yampa Valley.

Donations to support the new amphitheater are still being accepted through PiknikTheatre.org

Businesses interested in sponsoring the 2026 season or reserving the amphitheater for private events are encouraged to contact Executive Director Celina Taylor at celina@pikniktheatre.com
