The Yule Log has been found on Wednesday morning, after Clue #6.
It was at Howelsen Hill near Adams Field, closer to the railroad tracks under a pine tree.
A group from Steamboat Veterinary Hospital found it. Here’s Tammy Shupp.
“So yeah, it was exciting. It was exciting to be a part of it.”
Also with Tammy were Michaela Fogg, Kendal Paul, Jill Peters, and Lynne Romeo.

It’s something Lynne loves to do every year because of the history.
“I just really like how people get excited about the history. We learn so much from each clue. It’s crazy. Stuff we had no idea that happened in Steamboat. And the other thing, Shannon, for a few days, we bring people back to life, our pioneers, and I feel when we’re out looking, I feel them.”
This was Clue #6. The log was not hidden until today. This is the 46th year for the Annual Yule Log Hunt, presented by the Tread of Pioneers Museum, along with F.M. Light Sons and the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association.
The Yule Log Hunt started from last year’s hiding spot, which was Fly Gulch School at Strawberry Park Elementary.
Here are the clues leading up to today’s discovery.
Clue #1
Trull, Moonhill, and Deep Creek,
Look around, find what you seek.
Bees and meetings, learning too.
Back to life in ‘92.
Clue #2:
Plant the seed, watch them grow.
Stay the course, go with the flow.
Reinhardt sold the sweets and lots,
Solve the clues, don’t ever stop.
Clue #3
At A.G.’s first, go across,
Follow the path, don’t get lost.
In 1990, J.R. led the way,
Walk and run, seek and play.
Clue #4
See the doctor, play a tune,
Hear the music in this room.
History prevails despite its fate,
Find the log, don’t be late.
Clue #5
Follow the law or fix your tooth,
Become a winning Yule Log sleuth.
H.R.’s home, now for pleasure,
You’re getting close, find the treasure!
Clue #6
At J.C.’s corner, get your start,
Build your dream, use the cart.
Hear the rhythm, make the call,
Hear the hammer’s final fall.
