Routt County is asking for feedback from the community on a draft update for the Routt County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). It’s a long-term strategy designed to reduce the risks and impacts of natural and human caused disasters. The new plan will help with mitigation efforts for the next five years, that may impact Routt County. That includes wildfire, flooding, drought, and severe winter weather.

The draft plan and the public survey where you can share your comments are both available online. The link for the plan is on our website and the Routt County website. Please provide your input before January 9, 2026.

Christmas trees are being recycled at Emerald Park, near Yampa River Botanic Garden. It’s free to drop it off and the trees will be mulched up for residents to use the mulch in yards.

More on the Story — Recycle your Christmas Tree at Emerald Park

One enterprising Nordic Combined skier, Ella Wilson, has offered to pick up your tree and take it to be recycled for $30 per tree. You must be within city limits. Ella is doing it to raise money to support her international travel expenses for Nordic Combined competitions. The number to call is 970-819-8248.
