Students in the Plant and Animal Science Class at Steamboat Springs High School have launched their own hydroponics company called SHSS Boatanics. They are now growing and selling fresh lettuce and herbs at Yampa Valley Foods on 11th street. The students delivered more than 50 products this week.
The Legacy Leadership Class at Hayden High School has created a new HUGE tiger mural on the gym wall at the high school. The class was created, and the mural, thanks to a legacy grant from the Craig-Scheckman Family Foundation. The grant is given to local schools to increase a positive culture at the school.

Sunset Elementary in Moffat County is starting a reading program for students and their families. The program is called, “One School, One Book.” Students are reading “The Lemonade War” with their families, beginning today, while the book will be discussed in school. It is part of a national non-profit called, “Read to Them.”

Zoe Anfang from Steamboat Springs High School has been named a semi-finalist for the Boettcher Foundation scholarship. Other finalists from our region are Cecilia Gregory from SoRoCo, Rylee Sullivan from Meeker, Aubrianna Tapia from Rangely, and Raffaele Caruso from Middle Park High School in Granby. There are 300 semifinalists, and 100 will be chosen for the Boettcher Scholarship. Those chosen will be notified at the end of the month.

It’s MLK Weekend in the ‘Boat. The ski area and different groups in the community have a list of activities, which is on our website.

One of those events is tonight, hosted by Steamboat Creates. It’s a benefit dinner at the Depot Art Center with The Soul Food Scholar, Adrian Miller. Find out more at SteamboatCreates.org.

SBT GRVL has announced a Junior Development Scholarship Program. Three boys and three girls, U18, will receive complimentary race entries and assistance with housing. Apply through the SBT GRVL website before Feb. 14.
Also, this summer’s SBT GRVL ride on June 28 is sold out.
The group, “Homes For Our Troops,” is hosting a Key Ceremony Saturday morning, for Marine PFC Joshua Kelly of Oak Creek, who was injured in Afghanistan. He’ll be receiving keys to a free specially-adapted custom home/ The ceremony is at 10 a.m. at STARS, which is Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports, 35465 US-40, Steamboat Springs.

Coffee with Council is at 8 a.m. this morning in the Paachihpi Community Room at Steamboat Springs City Hall.
In high school sports…
Three Steamboat Sailor high school teams are in Aspen. The Alpine Ski Team competes today. The boys basketball team has games there tonight and the hockey team has a noon game at the Aspen Ice Garden on Saturday. ***Listen on KTYV 105.7 and 97.7 Sports on FM. and watch through the Steamboat Radio You Tube channel.
The Sailor Nordic Ski Team has a meet against Middle Park today at Snow Mountain Ranch.
The Girls Wrestling team heads to Battle Mountain High School Saturday.
For Moffat County, the basketball teams host Middle Park tonight and travel to Rifle on Saturday. The girls wrestling team has a tournament in Wyoming.
The boys wrestling teams from Moffat County, Hayden, and Soroco are at the North Fork Tournament.
The Hayden girls basketball team plays North Park today. On Saturday, both Hayden basketball teams host Vail Mountain.
The SoRoCo basketball teams are at South Park Saturday.
