The Arizona Cardinals have hired Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur as their next head coach, officially ending a nearly month-long search.

LaFleur, 38, agreed to a five-year contract and replaces Jonathan Gannon, who was dismissed in early January after three consecutive losing seasons, including a 3–14 finish in 2025. It marks Arizona’s third head coaching hire in less than 10 years as the organization looks to reverse a decade of limited success that has produced just one playoff appearance since 2016. LaFleur is the younger brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, making them the second pair of brothers currently leading NFL teams, joining John and Jim Harbaugh.

The move comes shortly after reports that Las Vegas finalized a deal with Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who had also interviewed with the Cardinals. With LaFleur’s hiring, all 10 NFL head coaching vacancies for the 2026 offseason have now been filled.

Arizona is betting on LaFleur’s offensive background – he was a central figure in a Rams offense that ranked first in the NFL in both points and yards in 2025. The Rams reached the NFC Championship Game and earned three straight playoff berths during LaFleur’s tenure as coordinator.

Before joining the Rams, LaFleur served as offensive coordinator for the New York Jets from 2021–22 and spent years working under Kyle Shanahan in Cleveland, Atlanta and San Francisco.

The challenge awaiting him in Arizona is significant. The Cardinals have not posted a winning season since 2021 and have not won a playoff game since their run to the NFC Championship Game in the 2015 season. They finished last in the NFC West in 2025, a division that sent three teams to the postseason..
