The 113th Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival starts today. Tonight is a History Happy Hour at 5:30 p.m. in Olympian Hall, presented by the Tread of Pioneers Museum. The subject is “Olympic Memories with Local Olympians.”

The Craig River Park as part of the Yampa River Corridor Project in Craig is on track for full launch this summer. The river park includes whitewater features, riverside trails, nature-based play areas, bankside terracing/amphitheaters, and brand-new public access. From the completed boat ramp at Loudy Simpson Park to the developing riverside park, every detail has been designed to serve families, residents, and future generations.

The Routt County Board of County Commissioners meets this morning. Liz Wood is on the agenda. She’s the manager of the Routt County Fairgrounds in Hayden. Commissioners will do interviews for appointments to the Fair Advisory Board. It is being recommended that Courtney Anderson and Jeremy Decker are reappointed. The third candidate is Emily Rajzer who is also running for a three-year term in District II. Agenda

 

 

Steamboat Springs City Council has their regular meeting at 5 p.m. tonight. The development plan for the Marshall House is on the agenda. A resolution for a new street name will be discussed. Amelia Court is on the west side of Steamboat. Agenda

 

Northwest Colorado Outdoors is hosting three public meetings, and you’re invited. It’s to align partnerships that support land, water, trails, wildlife, and our way of life in Northwest Colorado. Meetings are from 6-8 p.m. The first one is at the Yampa Building in Craig on Tuesday, Feb. 3. The second is at the Rio Blanco Firehouse in Meeker on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The third is Feb. 11, at the Rangely District Hospital.

 

United Way of the Yampa Valley is hosting three financial classes as part of the Western Slope Opportunity Project, which is for workers and families impacted by coal facility closures, including mines, power plants and supply chain companies. The classes start at 6:30 p.m. on three Tuesdays (Feb. 3, Feb. 17, and March 3) at the Hayden Center, 495 W. Jefferson Avenue in Hayden. It includes a free dinner and childcare, if needed, for participants.Link to Register

The Moffat County Bulldogs Girls Basketball team has an away game tonight, in Aspen. The Girls Wrestling team hosts Meeker tonight at 6 p.m. in Craig.
