The plan for the relocated Marshall House was approved by Steamboat Springs City Council Tuesday night. Right now, the house is up on stilts on Oak Street, between 11th and 12th streets. Joella West is a co-owner with her family on the project. She says they’ll pull a permit to get the lower level foundation built. Then the house can be lowered onto it and interior work can begin. There will be a cigar lounge, tavern and speakeasy, with historic walking tours.

“If we are able to have tours come inside, the tour guide can talk about not only the city of Steamboat but more about what life was like to live here at the turn of the 20th century.”

The Marshall House was built in the late 1800s. It’s one of the oldest surviving structures in Steamboat Springs. It was moved a few lots down on Oak in April 2024. West hopes to get the foundation permit approved and construction to start next month.
