“The state has mandated that all jurisdictions across Routt County adopt this code with the effective date of July 1 to help add protection and harden up our buildings in the event we suffer a wildfire or ashes.”

The three classes are Wednesday, Feb. 18.

This is for contractors, designers, and stakeholders to learn the new codes that can affect design decisions, construction, bids, and materials, AND avoid project delays.

Three classes are at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., or at 1:30 p.m. this Wednesday, and they last two hours, on the lower level of the Routt County Justice Center.

Register through the county by emailing building@co.routt.co.us . Include your first, second, and third preferred class times. Staff will confirm your assigned class once registration is processed.

Training topics will include:

  • Overview and interpretation of the 2025 Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code
  • Requirements for demonstrating compliance on construction plans
  • New field inspections required before installation or concealment of certain items
  • Final site inspections required before Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) or Certificate of Occupancy (CO), including landscaping and other site elements
  • Timeline considerations and strategies for planning future projects under the new code
