Processing Grief

By, Mara Rhodes

Unprocessed grief can be mentally and physically complex. People often describe their experience of loss as being “stuck” in their suffering. This can lead to self-isolation behaviors, prolonged feelings of overwhelm, displaced anger, and increased substance use. Symptoms of grief can show up in the body causing chronic fatigue, sleep disturbances, headaches, and loss of interest in hobbies and loved ones.

Community and connection can help heal the loneliness of grief. The Grief & Loss Workshop aims to normalize the waves of grief and provide a structured environment to move through the stages of processing loss.

Grief & Loss Winter Workshop is being offered by Emerald Integrative Health, Sarah Coleman, Certified Professional Coach, and Mara Rhodes, Clinical Mental Health Therapy Intern. The four sessions are being offered upstairs at Dusky Grouse Coffee from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Thursdays, February 12th, 19th, 26th, March 5th. The cost is $120 for all four sessions. *Scholarships are available.

The workshop is for anyone who has experienced loss and the complex feelings of grief that follow. The purpose of these meetings is to provide connection, reduce isolation, and offer healing tools during what many describe as lonely times.

The Grief & Loss Winter Workshop will offer connection-based tools, grounding techniques, and cognitive reframing interventions to help participants process the unique symptoms that come with the waves of grief.
