A reminder again to be careful and aware in the back country. Check avalanche conditions first with the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, which has been recommending to avoid travel in avalanche terrain as avalanches can easily be triggered on steep slopes. Check the CAIC website for current conditions.

 

 

The State of the Community award winners have been announced for this year, by the Craig Chamber of Commerce. Business of the Year is Memorial Regional Health. Best Customer Service goes to Oasis Bar & Grill. The Changemaker is Taylor Oxenreider.

 

Routt County Commissioner Sonja Macys

Routt County Commissioner Sonja Macys has been elected Vice Chair of the Land Use and Natural Resources Steering Committee for Colorado Counties Incorporated (CCI). It’s a statewide organization representing Colorado’s 64 counties.

Top winners of the Rucksack Challenge at Steamboat Resort Wednesday are Ben Huston and Kit Callahan in 1st and 2nd for the 90-pound Division. Those without the 90-pound rucksack are Chris Kricher for the Men and Adrienne Pereira for the women. The event was to remember the ascent of Riva Ridge by the 10th Mountain Division, in 1945.

 

 

Coffee with Council is at 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in the Paachihpi Community Room at City Hall, 115 10th Street. It’s an open conversation with those Steamboat Springs City Council members that are available.

 

A Routt County Town Hall is Sunday afternoon, with Colorado State Senator Dylan Roberts and Representative Meghan Lukens. They’ll be discussing the 2026 Legislative Session. It’s at 3:30 p.m. at Bud Werner Memorial Library.

 

The Steamboat Sailors Boys Alpine Ski Team are back-to-back state runners-up at the CHSAA Alpine State Ski Championships. Those advancing in their individual weight divisions today are:

  • Addi Whaley from SoRoCo is in the girls 100-pound semi-finals today.
  • Lexi Thurman from Coal Ridge is in the girls 105-pound semi-finals today.
  • Gracie Varner from Meeker is in the 140-pound semi-finals today.
  • Ellie Ford from Meeker is in the 145-pound semi-finals today.
  • Reese Davis from Rifle is in the 155-pound semi-finals today.
  • Also in the semi-finals at 170 pounds are Emily Hockaday from Hayden, wrestling for Moffat County, and Ruth LeBlanc from Meeker.
  • Advancing to the semi-finals for the boys, at 157-pounds is Landon Lockhart from West Grand.

The Steamboat Sailors Nordic Ski Team is competing at the CHSAA High School State Championships in Minturn today and tomorrow.

 

The Moffat County Bulldogs basketball teams host Rifle tonight. The Varsity Girls play at 5:30 p.m. and the Varsity Boys play at 7 p.m.

 

The SoRoCo Rams girls basketball team plays North Park High School in Walden at 5:30 p.m. tonight.

 

The Steamboat Sailors basketball teams host Rifle on Saturday. The Varsity girls play at 12:30 p.m. and the boys are at 2 p.m. Listen to those games on KTYV 105.7 Sports on FM or watch through the Steamboat Radio YouTube Channel.

 

The Hayden girls and boys basketball teams host West Grand on Saturday.
