A person died at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland early Tuesday morning after a medical emergency at Steamboat Resort. Communications Director Maren Franciosi at Steamboat Resort confirms, “…our ski patrol responded immediately and provided life-saving care before the individual was transported to the hospital.” He was then taken to Loveland. Routt County Coroner Mitch Locke says he was notified by the Larimer County Coroner’s office of a ski incident at Steamboat Resort, and that the person transported to the hospital in Loveland passed away. Locke says the Medical Center of the Rockies identified the man as 73-year-old Stanley Clements from Wisconsin.

Two people are in the Moffat County Jail today. The sheriff’s office says it started when City Market employees in Craig contacted them about a woman asking people for money to help her get home to her mom. The lieutenant actually gave her some money but then saw her getting into an expensive sports car with a man. He ran the plates. Turns out the car had been reported stolen in Oregon under allegedly violent circumstances. Both Neo Gabrielsen and Fallon Frederick were taken into custody. The officer found a diary with details of the cross-country adventure. The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office is now working with authorities in Oregon about the theft of the vehicle.
