Soda Creek Elementary headed into the weekend on Friday with their 3rd annual Reading Extravaganza, for all the kids at the school. This year, the theme is the Relaxed Reading Rally.
Cailin Ryan-McKeever is a biliteracy teacher at Soda Creek, for those students who speak Spanish as their first language.
“It’s really just celebrating cultural diversity and especially that’s what we have here in the Yampa Valley, and celebrating literature.”
Community members came to the school Friday to read a cultural story to each classroom, among other reading activities at both school and at home.
The event was for all kids at the school, from Pre-K through 5th grade, in alignment with the National Education Association’s Read Across America.
It was also Pajama Day.
