Steamboat Resort announced today it will close on April 12, instead of April 19.

 

Happy Trails Snow Report for March 17

Snow totals have been low this year. The Happy Trails Snow Report today (Tuesday, March 17) reports season snowfall has been recorded at 155 inches total so far.

 

Steamboat Ski Resort celebrates opening day on Nov. 30, 2007.

The Record Season for snowfall was 2007-2008 with 489 inches of snow.

 

OnTheSnow.com reports that Steamboat gets an average annual snowfall of 282 inches per year with 67 snowfall days.

 

Closing weekend activities include the 44th Annual Cardboard Classic  (photo courtesy Steamboat Resort) on Saturday, April 11, and the Splashdown Pond Skim on Sunday, April 12. The pond skim moves up from the base area to the Sunshine area at Rendezvous Lodge.

 

The Bud Light Rocks the Boat Free Concert Series is on both days, closing weekend.

  • April 12 – The Wailers

 

The Steamboat Resort Media Kit at the beginning of the season listed closing day as April 19.

Spring News, Closing Weekend Celebrations, and Preview of Summer

 

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – March 17, 2026 – As we approach the end of the 2025-26 winter season, Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation celebrates spring with a full lineup of closing weekend festivities, local pass offerings on sale, and a preview of operations for summer 2026.


Closing Weekend Celebration- April 11-12

Saturday, April 11

The Cardboard Classic, a beloved Steamboat tradition featuring homemade sleds made from cardboard, races down Stampede starting at 11:30 a.m. Registration for the Cardboard Classic will open on April 1, conditions depending. A Bud Light Rocks the Boat Free Concert kicks off at 3:30 p.m. featuring Duane Betts & The Palmetto Motel in Steamboat Square.


Sunday, April 12

The Splashdown Pond Skim relocates from the base area up to the Sunshine area at Rendezvous Lodge. The fun starts at 11 a.m. ahead of the final Bud Light Rocks the Boat Free Concert of the season featuring The Wailers, 50 Years of Positive Vibrations in Steamboat Square. Registration will open April 1.


Local Pass Products Now Available

Steamboat will launch local pass products for April 2026 and the 2026-27 winter season, providing flexible ways for locals and visitors to enjoy the mountain.

$99 daily lift access to Steamboat is available beginning April 6 and on sale March 18. The Ikon Pass is also now on sale for the 2026-27 season and offers spring 2026 access to Steamboat beginning March 23.

The First Tracks Add-On is a Steamboat-only pass designed for skiers and riders looking to be first on the mountain to enjoy Champagne Powder® snow and freshly groomed trails. On sale beginning April 9.

Parking Season Passes offer convenient access to the Upper Knoll and Meadows lots for the 2026-27 winter season. The Parking Pass Plus with access to Upper Knoll/Meadows lots will be available for $600 and the Parking Pass Meadows will be available for $300. Parking in lots is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Lots will be monitored by license plate scans as vehicles enter the lot. Season passes will allow the ability to assign more than one license plate to a season pass and will be available for purchase beginning April 9.


Summer 2026 Preview

Steamboat will kick off summer operations with Sunset Happy Hour on Thursday, June 4 followed by the beginning of daily operations on Friday, June 5. Daily operations will run through Sunday, August 16 at which point weekend operations will begin on Friday, August 21 and run Friday through Sunday through October 4.

Seasonal activities will include scenic gondola rides, the Steamboat Bike Park, lift access from the Steamboat Gondola and the lower section of Wild Blue Gondola, hiking, as well as on-mountain and base area dining.

Events include Sunset Happy Hours, Coca-Cola Movies on the Mountain, and a Fourth of July Stranahan’s Free Concert featuring the Million Dollar Band.
