Steamboat Springs Chamber announces 2026 Fourth of July Parade theme and Grand Marshals
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo., May 22, 2026 — The Steamboat Springs Chamber is excited to announce the 2026 Fourth of July Parade theme, “250/150: Celebrating our Pioneers, Patriots & Peaks,” and Grand Marshals Peter Wither and family. This year’s parade, presented by the Chamber and Yampa Valley Bank, will take place at 10 a.m. July 4, on Lincoln Avenue between 6th and 10th streets.
In 2026, Colorado is celebrating a unique “250/150” milestone, combining the 250th anniversary of the United States (semisquincentennial) with the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood (sesquicentennial). This “sesquisemiquincentennial” commemorates 1876-2026, focusing on Colorado’s history, agriculture, and diverse cultures through statewide events, exhibitions, and community projects.
Wither is an owner and broker at The Group Real Estate with over 35 years of experience. Born and raised in Steamboat Springs, Wither brings the spirit of the Yampa Valley to both his work and life, and he and his family will be a perfect addition to this year’s 250/150 theme.
“The Fourth of July Parade is one of Steamboat’s most cherished traditions, bringing together the community to celebrate the spirit, history and traditions that make this place so special,” said Steamboat Springs Chamber CEO Sarah Leonard. “This year’s 250/150 theme is a meaningful way to honor both our nation’s and Colorado’s milestones while celebrating the pioneers, Western roots and mountain culture that continue to shape the Yampa Valley.”
Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate in this deep-rooted Independence Day tradition with a parade float. Judging will occur in front of the judge’s stage on the corner of 8th and Lincoln Ave., and performances will be judged on originality, creativity and spirit. Yampa Valley Bank is proud to sponsor this year’s Fourth of July parade, celebrating Western heritage and the bright future of Colorado.
Float registration for the parade is now open. The registration costs $125 for community groups and non-profits, and $275 for for-profit businesses and political groups. The deadline to register is June 26.
