
The numbers are in for January 2021 Sales Taxes for the City of Steamboat Springs. They’re 6.15% lower compared to January of a year ago, which is a decrease of $209,277. For the past 5 years, January collections represent about 10% of annual collections. Year-to-date sales tax collection is 6.77% less than year to date through January 2020.
When comparing this January to the same month last year the notable increases in collections by category are in construction & home improvement at 19.30%, and liquor stores at 16.05% over last January. Notable decreases were reflected in the restaurant, down 25.20%, and lodging & amenities categories, down 17.81%. Notable increases in collections by area include an increase of 88.60% for Out of Town and 16.98% for Regional. The mountain area and downtown were down compared to the same period last year.
