David Caddell was in court this afternoon. He is charged with three Class 5 felonies of stalking and one charge of attempt to influence a public servant.
The 48-year-old allegedly threatened Routt County Commissioner Tim Corrigan and his family because he was mad about the COVID restrictions in Routt County.
District Attorney Matt Karzen told Judge O’Hara in the bond hearing today that the facts are extreme with very specific death threats to shoot or to hang the county commissioner with a statement of intent to continue to pursue and “engage in war” with the victim.
A warrant had been issued for Caddell’s arrest, and he was arrested in South Dakota and brought back to Routt County on Wednesday.
Judge O’Hara set bond at $10,000, saying the allegations against Caddell cause him “significant concern.” and said if Caddell meets his $10,000 cash bond, he can go back to South Dakota as the charges progress. If Caddell makes bond and is released from the Routt County Jail, he is not allowed to possess or have any access to firearms or ammunition, or any contact or communication, either direct or indirect, with Commissioner Corrigan or his family.
Caddell’s next court appearance is at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, in Judge Garrecht’s chambers.
