Halloween Stroll 2014

The Halloween Stroll in downtown Steamboat Springs is from 5-7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31. Get dressed up and head down to Lincoln Ave. for trick-or-treating. Lincoln Ave., which is also Highway 40 will be closed from 5th to 11th streets. Detour onto Oak Street.

Some pictures from the past are at the bottom of this page.

When you’re downtown, look for the Routt County United Way tent. It will be between Lyons Drug and FM Light & Sons. Parents of newborns up to five years old can receive a free book every month. Sign up for the free program, sponsored by Women United of Routt County United Way.

When you are trick-or-treating in either Steamboat Springs or Craig, please be aware of the high number of pedestrians, many of whom are children. Please be patient and alert and be aware of detours and closures.

Trick-or-Treat Street in downtown Craig is from 5-7 p.m. on Halloween night.

There’s also Trunk or Treat. It’s from 5-7 p.m. at Victory Motors of Craig. Kids will get their treats from local businesses from trunks of decorated cars.

In Yampa, the Halloween fun is at Crossan’s from 4:30-6 p.m.

Downtown Stroll Makes For Spooktacular Halloween Event

Lincoln Avenue Closure Runs From 4:45-8 p.m. Monday Evening (Oct. 31)

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-October 24, 2022-Don’t get tricked this All Hallows Eve when the Halloween Stroll comes to downtown Steamboat Springs and Lincoln Avenue (US40) closes for the annual community holiday stroll Monday evening, October 31.

The Lincoln Avenue closures will start to go into effect as early as 4:45 p.m. on Monday, October 31 and run through approximately 8 p.m. that evening. During this time, traffic will be detoured along Oak Street from 5th to 11th Streets. At the conclusion of the Halloween stroll, Lincoln Avenue will reopen as soon as safely possible.

To keep traffic moving smoothly during the detour, NO PARKING is in effect on Oak from 9th to 11th Streets. In addition, there will be NO PARKING on the east side of 11th Street. These measures allow large vehicles including tractor trailer rigs to make required turns through the detour route.

Event goers should plan to park in one of the downtown public parking lots including the paved and well-lit Howelsen Hill Rodeo Arena, Howelsen Hill Ski Area, or Stockbridge Transit Center. Parking is available on most side streets (except as stated above); however, please respect residential access and do not block driveways.

While Lincoln Avenue is closed, Steamboat Springs Transit buses will use the Oak Street temporary stops at 5th and Oak, 7th and Oak and 9th and Oak. Once Lincoln reopens, buses will return to their normal routes.

Due to the high volume of pedestrians including many children, please be patient, alert, and observe detours and closures. As it gets dark, motorists have a harder time seeing you, so be visible. In general, bring a flashlight or headlamp, wear reflective gear, use caution in crosswalks, do not dart across streets/alleys, eliminate distractions such as earbuds, texting, and cellphones, and assume you can’t be seen by others.

In addition, bikers should use front and back lights and always wear a helmet. Halloween is scary for the friendliest of pets; please leave your four-legged companions at home while you roam the costumed crowd downtown.

For more than three decades, families, friends and businesses have celebrated Halloween in historic downtown Steamboat Springs by trick-or-treating down six-blocks of Lincoln Avenue where businesses open their doors with plenty of treats for children. The downtown stroll festivities run from 5pm to 7:30pm.

The City of Steamboat Springs would like to thank residents and guests in advance for their cooperation during the holiday closure and extends our best witches to everyone for a safe and spooktacular Halloween celebration.
