Fourteen cross country athletes with Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club are on their way to the 2023 USSA Cross Country Ski Junior National Championships in Fairbanks Alaska. They’re competing for a national title, representing Rocky Mountain Nordic. The event is Monday, March 13-16.

Fourteen SSWSC Athletes Qualify for the 2023 USSA Cross Country Ski Junior National Championships
Athletes began their journey to Fairbanks, Alaska, today to compete against the top junior cross country skiers in the nation
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club announced today that 14 SSWSC cross country athletes qualified and are now on their way to the 2023 USSA Cross Country Ski Junior National Championships in Fairbanks, Alaska. They will represent Rocky Mountain Nordic and compete for the national title against racers from across the country.
Races will take place March 13-16 at the Jim Whisenhant Ski Trails at the Birch Hill Recreation Area.
Monday, March 13, will be a 7.5K interval start / classic race, Tuesday, March 14, will be a freestyle/skate sprint with qualifying, heats, and finals, and Thursday will be a mass start freestyle/skate race with a 5K for U16 skiers, 10K for U18 skiers and 20K for U20.
Congratulations to the following athletes who qualified and will compete in Fairbanks: Trey Jones, Grey Barbier, Henry Magill, Thomas Cooper, Campbell Mclaren, Tristan Thrasher, Luke Bedell, Charley Lodwick, Grace Olexa, Ruby May (will not compete due to illness), Tig Loomis, Anna Rhodes, Shea Rossi, and Norah Graham. First alternate Kiri May will compete in place of Ruby May.
