The Routt County Riders group is visiting local middle schools for Bike Safety. They were in Hayden Thursday. Laraine Martin is executive director for Routt County Riders.
“Every single kid is going to check their helmet for fit, bike safety checks, and then we cover a lot of safety guidelines and the rules of the road for the kids to commute to and from school, from home or whatever. Basically just keeping them safe as they’re out riding throughout the whole summer.”
Students can either bring their own bike, or they get a bike and a helmet to use from The Cycle Effect, which had enough bikes for everyone.
Here’s three of the Hayden 6th graders who got to get a bike and ride, and learn about Bike Safety.
Routt County Public Health also helped as did Hayden teachers and administrators, and Steamboat Springs Police, Routt County Sheriff’s Officers, and Hayden Police.
Routt County Riders will be at Steamboat Springs Middle School next week for Bike Safety. They were at Sleeping Giant School on Wednesday.
