The bathhouse building at the Routt County Fairgrounds in Hayden is closed. The building with showers and toilets was built in 2014. Vandals have been breaking in the maintenance room and altering the showers to receive a free shower and then prying open the coin holders to steal the money. Fair staff has found needles, pipes, foil, and powder substances on the surfaces of the bathhouse. Hayden Police and the Routt County Sheriff’s Officers are increasing patrols of the fairgrounds. Routt County Fair Manager Noel Neal says they would appreciate help from the community to report anything suspicious at the fairgrounds. She also says they are working on updating the security system with more cameras.
