As a reminder, any fireworks that explode or leave the ground are illegal in Colorado. In Steamboat Springs, it’s a petty offense that is punishable by up to $300 and/or up to ten days in jail. Last year in Colorado, an estimated 11,500 people were injured due to fireworks or sparklers and fireworks started an average of 18,500 fires. Steamboat Springs Police will be enforcing the use of illegal fireworks in the city.
Fireworks can be stressful to pets. Keep them inside where they are safe and comfortable. Put them in a place where they can’t damage anything if they’re scared. If your pet panics and escapes, make sure they can be identified with a tag or microchip.
