That Buick LeSabre stolen in Craig earlier this week has been recovered. It was found up Elk River Road in Routt County Thursday morning. Steamboat Springs Police arrested a man with the car who they say may live in Craig but was staying with someone in Routt County. The man turned 35-year-old yesterday is in the Routt County Jail on charges of Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Three of the five wolves released in Colorado Monday from Oregon have been part of packs that have killed and/or injured livestock there this year. Oregon Fish and Wildlife released a list of Livestock Depredation Investigations from 2023, and three of the wolves that are now in Colorado are on it. The wolves were released in Grand County Monday, as part of Colorado’s wolf reintroduction program.

2303-OR: Juvenile male, gray color, 76 lbs. Five Points Pack
2304-OR: Juvenile female, gray color, 76 lbs., Noregaard Pack
2305-OR: Juvenile male, black color, 93 lbs., Noregaard Pack
2307-OR: Adult male, gray color, 108 lbs., Wenaha Pack
The adult male that was released is from the Wenaha Pack in Oregon. That pack had a confirmed killing of a cow on Oct. 25 and the pack killed a calf on Sept. 18.
Two siblings are from the Five Points Pack in Oregon. The Livestock Depredation list from Oregon shows that that pack killed a calf and injured two others in July of this year.

Some anonymous elves put homemade, hand-sewn hearts with a “One Love Steamboat” tag all over the community early Thursday morning. Those colorful hearts are downtown, at the library, and at the hospital, spreading joy and happiness.
Santa Claus continues his holiday tour through Steamboat Springs neighborhoods on a fire truck. He’s doing this through Christmas Eve. That list of which neighborhoods and when he’ll be there is on our website. Mrs. Claus joined him last night.
SANTA CLAUS TO VISIT STEAMBOAT SPRINGS NEIGHBORHOODS ON A FIRE TRUCK
Santa is also stopping by from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Santa’s study on the lawn of the historic Routt County Courthouse.
On Christmas Eve, there is a Santa celebration at Crossan’s Town Hall in Yampa. It’s from 5-6:30 p.m. The Mayor of Yampa and Mayor Pro-Tem, along with other community members packed up over 75 bags with nuts, candy canes, gum, popcorn balls, and more today, to go to all of the kids on Christmas Eve and other residents in the area.
Christmas Tree Recycling continues at Emerald Park, in the parking lot there by the soccer fields and botanic garden. It’s free to drop off your Christmas tree in the northwest corner of the Emerald Park parking lot through the end of February. The trees will be mulched up and folks can use the mulch in their yards in the spring. Please remove all tinsel, ornaments, lights, nails, etc. Please NO WREATHS. Drop off is free, seven days a week, from sunrise to sunset.
EMERALD PARK HAS FREE CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING
The Senior Social Center in Craig has a new larger room with new workout equipment now available. Rebekah Greenwood is the director of the Senior Social Center.
“It’s just an exceptional place to exercise, for socialization, and to just get some motivation to come out and be active.”
The cost to join the new gym and use the equipment at the Senior Social Center is $15 per year. For those under 60 years old, it’s $25 a year. Greenwood says they even have scholarships available. They also have a donation jar if you want to throw in a dollar or two on your visit. Greenwood says everyone is welcome.
“We would love to have anybody that wants to come out and get healthy and just have more energy and excitement about life.”
The Senior Social Center is in the Yampa Building in Craig. They are also renovating the kitchen with a new commercial kitchen, and the offer services and events for seniors.
A LARGER WORKOUT ROOM IS NOW AVAILABLE AT THE SENIOR SOCIAL CENTER IN CRAIG
The Veterans Center in Steamboat Springs is hosting a Holiday Homecoming this afternoon, for all Active Duty members and their families. It’s from 4-7 p.m. A Blue Star Banner will also be presented to all families with members on Active Duty. The Veterans Center is at 924 Lincoln Ave. in downtown Steamboat Springs. All are invited to stop by and say hello to our Active Military.
Christmas Day is Monday. All are invited to the 2023 Community Christmas Dinner, sponsored by the Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors.
