Local law enforcement plans increased enforcement on dangerous drivers all day Wednesday. Colorado State Patrol says they want the highways in Northwest Colorado to be especially safe on the last day of the month. CSP plans to have strict enforcement and patrols out looking for impaired and dangerous drivers all day tomorrow. They’re working on the extra patrols with Craig Police, and the sheriff’s offices of Moffat, Routt, and Grand counties.
CSP adds, “Safety starts with you!” They ask you to call *CSP if you see anyone driving dangerously.

Moffat County Public Health is partnering with the state to provide COVID-19 and flu vaccines, at a low cost, or no cost at an upcoming clinic. It’s from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the public health offices at 1198 West Victory Way, Suite 110. That’s the new Moffat County Courthouse building. Enter on the west side of the building. No appointment is required.
A team called Child First is now serving families in Routt and Moffat counties, whose children may have experienced trauma. Colleen Quinn is a Care Coordinator.
“The parents might be dealing with things like mental illness, incarceration, domestic violence, things like that. We’re reaching out to those families and we are going into the homes and doing in-home therapy with the caregivers and their children. And the focus is to strengthen the bond and attachment between the caregiver and child.”
The Child First program is through Paragon Behavioral Health Connections serving Moffat and Routt counties. They specialize in rural communities. Quinn says the service is free.
“We take all insurance. We take Medicaid. But if a family is uninsured, we take them as well. There is no cost associated with this service at all.”
