More cluster boxes could be coming to Steamboat Springs. Local postmaster Alex Garza says he plans to work with the city and local HOAs to bring at least ten new cluster boxes to neighborhoods. This way, residents could get home delivery and would no longer need to have a P.O. Box at the post office. He says they are still going through the 1093 forms that were delivered in each P.O. Box. That’s the form that decides if you have no other way to get your mail, so your P.O. Box would be free. But if there is a cluster box, you wouldn’t need a P.O. Box.
Garza also says boxes on the 80488 side of the post office will be shut down in the next few months so postal carriers have more room to work. You’ll be notified. He said those with an 80488 box will need to change to the 80477 side, and he says he is working on getting a discount on the cost of the new box, or having no cost at all for a bit because of the trouble.

Online hate and discrimination and the impacts of social media was the subject of discussion for Wednesday’s STAND meeting, which is the Steamboat Team to Disrupt Antisemitism and Discrimination.
Library Hall was filled with students, teachers, law enforcement, and members from throughout the community of all ages.
Traci Hiatt welcomed the crowd. She is on the STAND Advisory Council.
“We brought everyone together to talk about how we can work as a community to support one another and show up as our best selves in stamping out hate calling out what we see on social media what we see as things that might be discriminatory and really showcasing the values of this community that more than anything we support and love one another.”
Steamboat Springs Police Chief Mark Beckett brought up a specific example of one individual in the community, of which he is well aware, who used inflammatory language and social media against School District Superintendent Celine Wicks, as well as others in the room.
Another speaker was a transgender student named Julian who spoke of online bullying against him, saying, “I wish people could see how hurtful it is to be mean.”
