The Honorable Michael A. O’Hara III is retiring as of next January, as District Judge in the 14th Judicial District. The district’s nominating commission will interview and select nominees in August, for a new judge to be appointed by Governor Polis. Applications must be submitted by July 16.

Visit Moffat County and the Moffat County Tourism Association meets this afternoon.
The season kickoff party for the Town Challenge is from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Mountain Tap Brewery in Steamboat. This is a celebration of the start of biking season, and you can learn more about this year’s Town Challenge Mountain Bike Race Series. This is also where you can purchase your season pass to get entry into all five races this season at a discounted race. Bring a first-time/never-ever racer to the kickoff party, and they’ll get the Bring-A-Buddy Discount.
The Northwest Colorado Solar Co-op is launching a third regional collaboration with the nonprofit Solar United Neighbors. It’s to help residents and small businesses in Routt, Moffat, and Rio Blanco counties to go solar. There is an informational meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Bud Werner Library in Steamboat Springs.
A Wildfire Mitigation meeting is at 5:45 tonight at the South Routt Community Center. It’s hosted by the Routt County Wildfire Mitigation Council, and it’s free. More information is at RouttWildfire.org

It’s playoff time in high school sports.
The #15 seed Sailor Girls Lacrosse team hosts #18 seed Durango at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Gardner Field. Liz Diefendorf is the Head Coach.
“We have 15 seniors to lead the way. We have a lot of depth in our attack as well as our defense.”
The Sailor Girls Soccer team is the #30 seed playing #3 seed Windsor Wizards at 6 p.m. AWAY at Windsor High School. Here’s head coach Rob Bohlmann.
“The Seniors are fantastic, as you would hope because it’s not always natural. Leadership is tremendous. Experience is there.”
