The new principal for Sandrock Elementary in Craig will be Julie Spencer. She has most recently been on the administration staff in Littleton in the Jeffco School District. She starts July 22.
Spencer replaces Ashley Johnston who will be the new principal for South Routt Elementary in Yampa.

Christie Haas will be the new Executive Director for Human Resources in the Moffat County School District. She also is moving to Moffat County from Denver, and starts July 15.
“This is a great new season for Moffat County School District,” said incoming superintendent Dr. Mathew Neal, who worked closely with administration in making these hires. “I’m really proud of our hiring team. It was a healthy process and I’m excited to move into a positive chapter with a strong administrative team as I take my place with the district July 1.”

Moffat County School District announces exciting hires for Sandrock Elementary principal, Executive Director of Human Resources
Moffat County School District is pleased to announce two important hires to complete the district’s administrative team.
Julie Spencer has accepted an offer to serve as Sandrock Elementary principal, and Christie Haas has accepted an offer to serve as Executive Director for Human Resources.
Both incoming administrators are Colorado locals. Their hires make the district’s admin team whole. Mrs. Haas’s planned start date is July 15. Mrs. Spencer’s is July 22.
Mrs. Spencer has served as a principal and assistant principal in Jeffco School District, most recently serving as assistant principal at Powderhorn Elementary School in Littleton. She has experience as an instructional coach, and she taught in the classroom for 18 years in Douglas County School District and Carrollton, Texas.
Mrs. Spencer values compassion, collaboration and shared leadership, and has been a part of numerous successes in many areas of instructional work over her 34-year career in education.
Mrs. Haas comes to Moffat County from Denver, where she has worked in human resources positions for nearly 30 years. She mostly recently worked as Director of Human Resources, Regulatory and Compliance for Lauth Investigations International. She is the co-founder and was for over a decade the Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for Luca Technologies, a natural gas producer.
Mrs. Haas brings a wealth of human resources experience to the district across a vast swath of business segments.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Brad Meeks was similarly pleased with the process and the outcome.
“Mrs. Spencer and Mrs. Haas both bring a wealth of experience to these roles, and I’m looking forward to seeing how their perspectives can elevate the administrative team,” Meeks said. “More than anything, I’m very happy to see the administrative team fully whole again. That’s a huge deal for a successful school district, and it’s good to see this great group of leaders coming together.”
