Colorado Parks and Wildlife has confirmed the death of a cow and a calf from wolves in Grand County on Sept. 9. This comes AFTER the Copper Creek Pack was removed from the area for killing at least 20 head of sheep and cattle there, owned by Conway Farrell.
“These wolves that came in, and it’s a whole different pack from Grand County, and they’ve been killing over there north of Kremmling. This is going to keep continuing to happen. CPW needs to come in as soon as they have these wolves depredating like this on livestock and they need to come in and remove the problem wolves.”
Farrell says the elk and deer numbers are at an all time low in the area, which is the problem.
“The elk and deer numbers around here are so low, CPW has mismanaged our elk and deer numbers so bad, we have 40 percent of the elk we had five years ago. These elk and deer don’t exist like everybody thinks they do for them to eat so they come in, and there’s no elk and deer for them to eat, and they go right to livestock.”
