The Main Street Steamboat Springs Chili Challenge was this past Saturday, also hosted by F.M. Light & Sons. Over 600 chili lovers attended, enjoying 15 different chilis, five salsas, and five cornbreads. Here are this year’s winners:
- People’s Choice Red Chili- Big House Burgers (Chef Chad Whitaker) “My Wife Didn’t Make This” Pork Red Chili
- People’s Choice Green Chili- Laundry/Creekside (Chefs Ryan Hoth, Alex Ratliff, & Chris Heuston) Lavenderia Sucia Pork Green Chili
- Renegade Award (“thinking outside of the pot”)- Ice House (Chef Luke) with a delicious blackberry red chili called “Boldly Beautiful & Beefy Red Chili”
- “Over the Top” Award- E3 (Chef Brian Bailey) for outstanding presentation
- “Looks Like Team Spirit” Award- STARS for best overall spirited look and team participation.

- 1st Place Red- Q Live Crew (Chef Dean Montgomery) “Pit Smoked Beef & Brisket Chili”
- 2nd Place Red- Big House Burgers (Chef Chad Whitaker) “My Wife Didn’t Make This” Pork Red Chili
- 1st Place Green- Harison’s (Chef Gerardo Lopez) “Harison’s Pork Green Chili”
- 2nd Place Green- Del Mezcal Taco’s Y Margaritas (Chef Jose Manuel Lopez) “Del Mezcal Green Chili”
- 1st Place Salsa- Laundry/Creekside (Chefs Ryan Hoth, Alex Ratliff, & Chris Heuston) “Smoked Habanero Salsa”
- 1st Place Cornbread- Brass Kitchen “Southwest Cornbread”
Participants also danced to Eric Delaney, while enjoying beverages, joining in on the Boy Scout Troop Cow Plop, and voting on their favorite chilis.
