Steamboat Springs, CO – [30 Oct 2024] – The Steamboat Skating Club (SSC) proudly announces its remarkable success at their recent skating evaluations in Vail, Colorado. Three athletes from SSC successfully passed their Pre-preliminary national skating assessments – showcasing their talent, dedication, and hard work.
The event, which took place on 29 Oct 2024, featured skaters from across the state. The SSC athletes demonstrated exceptional skill and artistry, impressing judges and all achieving passing scores, two with “honors.”
Wondering what USFS tests are?! These are nationwide standardized tests that can be taken either virtually or in-person. Test sessions feature a panel of U.S. Figure Skating official judges and offer skaters the opportunity to highlight their abilities and advance to the next level. There are eight skating skills tests and eight freestyle tests. The skating skills tests require skaters to memorize and perform specific patterns for the judges, while the freestyle tests involve executing a program that includes designated jumps and spins for each level.
“Our skaters have demonstrated remarkable dedication and resilience, and their hard work has truly paid off,” said Kelli Standekar, Executive Director of the Steamboat Skating Club. “We take immense pride in each athlete’s achievements and are deeply grateful for the unwavering support from our families and the community.”
The Steamboat Skating Club continues to foster a love for the sport, emphasizing sportsmanship, skill development, and community involvement.
