The season kicks off for Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club this weekend. There is ski jumping and Nordic Combined, with some of the best athletes in North America competing. That’s Saturday and Sunday.
Then Saturday is the season opener for a Rocky Mountain Freestyle moguls competition, with the final run under the lights at 5:30 p.m. at Howelsen Hill.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Get ready for an action-packed weekend at Jumpin’ & Bumpin’ at Howelsen Hill December 7-8! Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club kicks off the event season with the Ski Jumping Nordic Combined Winter Start and U.S. Cup Opener and Rocky Mountain Freestyle season opener moguls competition.
SKI JUMPING AND NORDIC COMBINED WINTER START AND U.S. CUP OPENER
On Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8 watch the best U16 and older ski jumping and Nordic combined athletes in North America compete in the first event of the 2024-2025 season, hosted by Rocky Mountain Division (RMD) and Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. Approximately 60-70 athletes participate in the event on the HS75, and HS100 meter (HS=Hill Size) jumps at Howelsen Hill. This event is the U.S. Cup opener and the first of two Junior World Championship Team tryouts.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN FREESTYLE SEASON OPENER
On Saturday, December 7, Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and Rocky Mountain Freestyle will host the 2024 Ski Town USA Freestyle competition at Howelsen Hill, featuring elite moguls skiers from around the country. This is the season opener for Rocky Mountain Freestyle. Howelsen Hill is one of the only mogul courses open in North America, with big air and fast skiing!
