It is Christmas Day, Dec. 25. All are invited to a free Christmas Dinner, hosted by local realtors. This is from 1-5 p.m. at the Steamboat Springs Community Center which is next to the Transit Center on the west side of town. Stay for dinner or get a to-go box to take home. The dinner is free.
All city and county offices are closed as are federal services, such as the post office.
There is no residential trash service in Craig today. If Wednesday is your trash pick-up day in Craig, it will be moved to tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 26.
In Steamboat Springs, there is also no residential trash service from Apex and Twin Enviro. Trash pickup for Wednesday customers will be this Saturday, Dec. 28.
When you’re ready to take down your tree, you can take it to Emerald Park in Steamboat Springs, where it will be recycled. This is in the parking lot by the soccer fields and Yampa River Botanic Garden. It’s free to drop off your Christmas tree through the end of February. The trees will be mulched up and folks can use the mulch in their yards in the spring. Please remove all tinsel, ornaments, lights, nails, etc. Please NO WREATHS. Drop off is free, seven days a week, from sunrise to sunset.

The City of Craig is accepting Christmas trees for solid waste customers in Craig at the City Road & Bridge Shop at 1710 Yampa Ave. starting Dec. 30.
Drop off your Christmas trees between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Dec. 30-Jan. 3 (except for New Years Day), and Jan. 6-10. For questions, call 970-824-4463.
Enjoy a glorious performance of “Finding Christmas” with the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of the Morning Maestro, Ernest Richardson at 6 p.m. tonight and on Christmas Day on Easy 94-1.
A couple of things happening on the day after Christmas for you to know about…
There is a Chanukah Festival and Grand Menorah Lighting on the lawn of the historic Routt County Courthouse. It’s from 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday and everyone is invited. It’s free and there will be music, donuts, latkes, hot cocoa and apple cider.
Also, Thursday, any active-duty military members and their families in the Yampa Valley are invited to a Holiday Homecoming hosted by The Veterans Center. This includes any high school seniors who are planning to go into the military upon graduation. Family members are invited even if their military member is not home so they can receive a Blue Flag Banner. The event is from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, at the Steamboat Springs Community Center.
