The front desk of the U.S. Forest Service offices in Steamboat Springs have re-opened for the summer. This is at 925 Weiss Drive. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visitors can receive maps and recreation site status, plus get more information on permits.
Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland (MBRTB) offices in Douglas, Laramie, and Saratoga, Wyo., as well as Steamboat Springs and Yampa, Colo., currently have visitor services availability, but it is recommended to call in advance for front desk operational hours and permit sale details. The number at the Steamboat Springs office is (970) 870-2299.
Online options are also available. Camping and Rental Reservations, Firewood Permits, and Day-Use Passes (both single day and annual) may be obtained online.

The U.S. Forest Service offices in Steamboat Springs closed in early March of this year, after cutting back hours last December due to staffing.

Public Services Update – Front desk open for summer at Forest Service office in Steamboat Springs
Forest information may be obtained in person at several MBRTB office front desks, online, or via phone.
(STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.) – Visitor services at the USDA Forest Service (USFS) office front desk in Steamboat Springs, Colo., 925 Weiss Drive, are available for the summer season.
Visitor information, such as maps, access locations, and recreation site status may be obtained in person Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., online, or over the phone, (970) 870-2299.
Some Forest Service product permits, such as for fern harvesting, are only available at select office locations. Members of the public should call for sales information in advance of driving to an office location.
