Two new members of the Steamboat Springs School Board were sworn in at Monday night’s board meeting. Jane Toothaker and Kim Lemmer replace outgoing board members Katy Lee and Chresta Brinkman whose terms ended this fall.
“Jane and Kim each bring a unique blend of expertise, community involvement, and a deep commitment to our students,” said Superintendent Dr. Celine Wicks. “We are grateful for their willingness to serve and excited for the perspective, leadership, and heart they will bring to the Board of Education.”

Steamboat Springs City Council meets tonight. Public hearings include a discussion on a property tax for funding Fire and Emergency Medical Services, and a discussion on extending a waiver of temporary storage for the historic Marshall House.
The Battle of the Badges is underway. The Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) and Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue (SSFR) are having a food drive for LiftUp of Routt County. Food and non-perishables and also monetary donations are being collected at Safeway, City Market, and Walmart in Steamboat Springs. Money is also being collected for LiftUp’s Housing and Utility Assistance Programs. A QR code to donate is on the Events Calendar on our website.

Steamboat Resort has announced the promotion of Pete Blei to Vice President of Finance. Blei will serve as the resort’s top financial strategist, overseeing all financial activities. Blei steps into the role previously held by Roger Levanduski who has been named Vice President of Finance for the Rocky Mountain Region at Alterra Mountain Company.
The Routt County Farm Bureau has their Annual Meeting today. Discussion items include the Colorado River Compact Negotiations and the Shoshone Water Right Update with Raquel Flinker, the Director of Interstate and Regional Water Resources for the Colorado River District. The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the meeting room at Mountain Valley Bank, 2220 Curve Plaza, in Steamboat Springs. A QR Code to RSVP is on the Event Calendar on our website.

A Routt County Public Foreclosure Auction is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3. Register at the window of the Public Trustee/Treasurer’s Office at the Historic Routt County Courthouse, 522 Lincoln Ave., Suite 22. One item is on the list this month.

We have a list of things needed at KRAIRadio.com, for the Interfaith Food Bank, Christmas for Kids, Christmas for Seniors, and the Humane Society of Moffat County. Cash is always welcome and checks can be made out to United Way of the Yampa Valley, and it will be divided evenly. Everything collected stays in the Moffat County community.
All donations go to four Moffat County non-profits:
- Christmas for Kids: New unwrapped toys and bikes for kids: Remote control cars and trucks, Legos, baby dolls, baby toys, frozen toys, craft kits, sleds, Minecraft, art kits, basketballs, footballs, Nerf guns, toy tool sets, board games, Hot Wheels race tracks, bikes, sleds.
- New Unwrapped Gifts for Seniors: Gift cards to City Market and Walmart ($25 each), blankets, slippers, crosswords puzzle books, books (western, mystery, local history), twin comforters, soft big blankets, sweatpants and sweatshirts, pajamas, art supplies, knitting and crocheting supplies.
- Interfaith Food Bank: Non-perishable foods are needed PLEASE CHECK DATES. Examples: Breakfast cereals (like Corn Flakes or Raisin Bran), Pancake mix and syrup, jelly, canned soup, boxed mac and cheese, canned tuna, canned fruit (peaches or pears), canned vegetables, canned pork and beans, canned spaghetti sauces, spaghetti, saltine crackers, ramen noodles.
- Humane Society of Moffat County: They are in need of cat and dog food. Please and thank you.
