Cold and snowy weather greeted over 600 runners with Girls on the Run in Steamboat Springs Saturday. The girls and their families came from towns across the Western Slope to run a 5K on the wet and slippery roads from Strawberry Park Elementary School.

One of those runners was 5th grader Makenna Comstock from Ridgeview Elementary School in Craig.

Girls on the Run is a nationwide organization to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident. It’s for girls in 3rd through 5th grade.

The fastest runner of the day was 8-year-old Livia from Aspen.
