Congressman Joe Neguse’s office has confirmed that Steamboat Springs residents who have paid for a P.O. Box but have no other way to get their mail, will eventually get free boxes, and possibly two years of a refund. He sent the press release, after seeing it reported again, right here on Steamboat Radio News, almost two weeks ago. The offices of U.S. Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper have also been working on free P.O. Boxes for local residents from a national level. When you get the 1093 form in your box, make sure to fill it out and turn it in so the process can start.

The petitioner referendum that passed, regarding the Brown Ranch Annexation will go before City Council within the next two months, where council will decide whether to repeal the ordinance or schedule an election. If there is an election, it would be between 30 to 90 days from then which means an election date would be either in March or April of 2024.
STATEMENT FROM YVHA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ON REFERENDUM
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO – The following is a statement from Jason Peasley, YVHA’s Executive Director on the City Clerk’s verification of signatures for an election on the Brown Ranch annexation.
“We welcome the upcoming vote on Brown Ranch annexation and look forward to the City Council’s decision on when to schedule the vote. We know we have a severe affordable housing crisis. For the last forty years, the demand for housing affordable to the local workforce has greatly outpaced the supply. And the magnitude continues to explode. The gap will continue to grow until we make a significant change.
The Brown Ranch plan was created by the community and is consistent with the community’s vision for phased westward growth in the city’s urban growth boundary since 1999. Providing affordable and attainable housing options for our workforce including hospitality staff, nurses, teachers, law enforcement and others will keep our community functioning and our economic future vital.
We also look forward to more community meetings to discuss the ongoing planning and development of the Brown Ranch in the coming months.”

“OK, we are looking for new, unwrapped toys. We need bikes, we need Legos, we need dolls, we could use basketballs and footballs and that kind of thing, and sleds. Toys for little ones like babies, birth to three, as well as like Hot Wheel race car sets, RC cars. Those are some of the things that we could really use this year.”
Betsy says the Holiday Drive is so helpful.
“The drive supports families who are struggling and need help providing Christmas for their kids. So this is just a service that we offer so their kids have a good Christmas and holiday season.”
