Colorado Northwestern Community College in Craig has launched its new Radiologic Technology Program, on the CNCC campus in Craig. It begins in the fall, offering an Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology. Graduate students can then apply to sit for national or state certification exams to start working in radiography.

Watch for prescribed burns in the next few weeks in areas around us. Some will be in north Eagle County. Others are south of Rifle in Mesa County, and also in Pitkin County.
Steamboat Springs City Council would like some ideas for options for fireworks on the 4th of July. Applications are being accepted for an alternative on the 4th of July, from fireworks, which can’t happen anymore because of wildfire threats. There is a questionnaire to fill out. Applicants will be reviewed and a finalist selected by City Council. A permit will then have to be submitted to receive funding from the city.
Event producers wishing to submit a special event application for putting on the July 4th event must fill out the expedited questionnaire and submit it directly to Teresa Long, tlong@steamboatspring.net, by March 21.

The board of the Steamboat Free Summer Concerts is looking for a community member to serve on their Board of Directors. Integrated Community has announced the promotion of Tracy Gomez to Director of Immigration Services, serving Routt and Moffat counties. She replaces Renzo Reátegui, who is relocation to Denver after 10 years with Integrated Community. He’ll be working with the Justice and Mercy Legal Aid Center.

Anna Allsberry has been promoted to Director of Programs for REPS, which is Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide.
Routt County Riders is getting ready for their Street Smarts program in May. It’s for all sixth graders at Steamboat Springs Middle School, Sleeping Giant School, and Hayden Middle School. The program checks equipment and helmets, talks about rules of the road and safe commuting to school on a bike. Volunteers are needed for the program, which is supported by the Yampa Valley Medical Center Foundation and Craig-Scheckman Family Foundation.
Dates for the Street Smarts program:
- Thursday, May 8, at Hayden Middle School
- Tuesday, May 13 at Sleeping Giant Middle School
- Tuesday, May 20 at Steamboat Springs Middle School

The Steamboat Springs High School Drama Troupe presents the spring play “Our Town.” It starts tonight at the high school and runs through Saturday.

In Hayden, the 7th-12th Grade Drama Club in the Hayden School District proudly presents “Peter Pan and Wendy.” Rowan Webster is a senior at Hayden High School. He plays Captain Hook.
“We haven’t had a drama club in a long time and I think this is going to bring a lot of attention to the Hayden Center and the auditorium here and also our Drama Club and hopefully bring a bit more life into the performing arts scene in Hayden.”
There are 28 on stage in the cast of the play, with about 40 total who are involved, including the crew.
“People should come see play. We worked really, really hard on it and it’s just a really fun time.”
It’s a comedy-adventure adapted by Doug Ranch and produced by special arrangement with PlayScripts, Inc.
Opening night in the Hayden Center Auditorium is at 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, with a Saturday matinee at 3 p.m. Doors to the Hayden Center Auditorium will open 30 minutes before the show starts. Reserved tickets are $8 and available by email to bslwvalo@Hotmail.com General admission tickets are $7 and are also available at the door.

It is “Strings School Days” tonight at Strings in Steamboat Springs. This is a concert in collaboration with musicians Tyler Grant, Zach Jackson, and Dylan McCarthy that includes the Moffat County High School Band and Steamboat Springs High School Band. The show starts at 7 p.m. at Strings and it is free.
Tyler Grant — Flatpicking National Champion Tyler Grant’s accolades include a San Diego Music Hall of Fame honor, tours with acclaimed artists, and a respected presence as both a soloist and band member with Pickin’ On The Dead, as well as a mentor at esteemed workshops and expeditions. After discovering Flatpicking guitarists Tony Rice & David Grier, Tyler decided to take his classical training and apply it to mastering the Flatpicking style of guitar.
Zach Jackson — Denver-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Zach Jackson has spent 15 years igniting the Indie, Americana, and Pop scenes. Known for his global tours, high-profile collaborations, and an electrifying stage presence that once led him to open for The Lumineers on a sold-out arena tour, Zach infuses every performance with creative energy and passion.
Dylan McCarthy — Colorado-based award-winning composer and principal songwriter for progressive bluegrass band Jake Leg, Dylan McCarthy, has earned accolades such as a Heartland Emmy, the 2019 Rockygrass Mandolin Championship, and IBMA recognitions. His innovative approach and compelling compositions continue to inspire audiences and fellow musicians alike.

Snowboarder Walker Overstake took 5th at the 2025 FIS Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships, which earned him a spot to compete at the World Championships in Switzerland next week. Samuel Carpenter who also rides for SSWSC but represents Great Britain, finished 7th.

At a recent competition in Snowbird, Utah, SSWSC alumna Ellie Reynolds won the U19 Big Mountain Ski competition. In the Big Mountain snowboarding, two Steamboat athletes made the podium in 2nd place in their divisions: Reid Graham and Jayla McGlone.

SoRoCo graduate Larhae Whaley is off to the NAIA National Championships in Kansas tomorrow, in wrestling. Whaley is a freshman at Dickinson State University and ranked 15th in the nation in her weight class.
