Some post office box holders in Steamboat Springs have still not received the 1093 form, to apply for a free P.O. Box. People have been letting us know, so we asked the corporate office out of Denver. Spokesperson James Boxrud says even though he was told all had been delivered in the 6,053 boxes here, they haven’t been. He apologized and said he found out today. The post office has been busy with holiday mail and packages.
The form that you need is a 1093 form. It’s below. You can print it up yourself, fill it out and turn it in to the local post office.
Jason at the window said they’re getting about ten a week, and they have a tub full of them to be sent in to the corporate office. You’ll need to attach two forms of I.D. But this is what you have to do to get a free P.O. Box, and two years worth of refunds, if you are paying for a P.O. Box and you have no other way to get your mail. Boxrud says it isn’t necessarily a fast process but they are working on it.
