Two people from Craig were found safe on Monday, after they didn’t show up from floating the Yampa River on Saturday. It was just north of Maybell, according to Moffat County Sheriff Chip McIntyre, who said Moffat County Search and Rescue launched a boat in Maybell to start the search. They had reportedly put in along Moffat County Road 19.
“They went down the river about 17 miles from where they originally left from. They found them in their raft, it was not exactly the best raft, something you would get from WalMart (a blow-up raft). They found them where they had set up a camp along the river bank. They started a fire last night but the copious amounts of rain we got put it out so they were pretty wet and cold, but otherwise uninjured. They located them and they were able to get all their stuff and get them out and get them warmed up.”
