The Post Office has sent an update on the ending of the P.O. Boxes on the 80488 side of the post office in Steamboat Springs. There are about 1,500 customers that will be moved from the 80488 side to the 80477 side. The change is being made so the Post Office can accommodate the expansion of deliveries.
They hope to have the switch done by the beginning of summer.
James Boxrud with the corporate office out Denver says all postal customers on the 80488 side have received a notice in their P.O. Box. We went down and asked. Of the three people getting their mail, two had received a notice and the other had not. We have asked Boxrud and Steamboat Springs Postmaster Alex Garza again to confirm that everyone has been notified.
More than 100 boxes have been moved this past week. There will be some extensions of payment dates depending on how soon customers can make the move.
Boxrud says there have been some longer lines in the lobby because of this change so they have asked for help from the district office with the front counter.
He says that some customers have been frustrated, but he adds, “but once we explain the reasoning, our customers seem to understand the change.”
Boxrud added, “We appreciate the community’s patience as we get through this period of change.”
